In order to fully assess the environmental impact of a particular activity such as agriculture or forestry, it is important to understand the fundamental nature of the existing biological interactions between resident species.
This requires knowledge of the essential processes that determine the distribution and abundance of organisms.
This module is designed to provide students with a general understanding of the ecology of living systems together with an introduction to basic ecological theory. This module will include a field studies element which will deliver the practical elements of identification, sampling and analysis of data collected.
